Spiritual Direction Programs
The Spiritual Direction Practicum is a two-year program to traind and supervise spiritual directors in the ministry of spiritual companionship. A basic foundation in the areas of Scripture, Theology, Spirituality, Psychology is required for admission.
Twenty-six Wednesday evening sessions, 7-9 p.m., from mid-September to mid-April. Program also includes a Saturday Reflection Day in the fall and a retreat weekends both years.

The Institute in Spiritual Direction, Sunday, June 7, 7 pm - Saturday, June 13, 2009, 1 pm is a six-day residential program open to beginning and experienced directors who seek to develop their skills and expertise. The Institute provides opportunities for input, role play, dialog, presentation of written verbatims, small peer supervision group, and the opportunity to lead the group in prayer. There will be time for study, rest, quiet and evening communal prayer. Applications must be directing a minimum of two persons and bring a written verbatim. An interview is required for admission. Internships in Spiritual Direction and Retreat Direction Contact Florence Trahan, RSM, Internship Coordinator, 203.245.0401 for further information Internships for persons who feel called to the ministry of spiritual direction or retreat direction. The program features individual study, guided by an experienced mentor, with the following components:
- Monthly sessions with a staff supervisor for a two-year period
- Dialog on selected readings in spiritual direction or the Ignation Retreat Exercises
- Supervision of written verbatims or of retreat experience
- Participation in two June Institutes (for spiritual directors)
- Participation in directed retreats (for retreat directors)
