Fair Earth Bazaar - November 2008
Thank you to everyone who made the Fair Earth Bazaar such a success!
Over the four days of the fair, we welcomed over 2,100 people, hosted wonderful musicians, initiated discussions on fair trade practices and shopped til we dropped!
Thank you, also, to Young Audiences Arts for Learning Connecticut for providing three artists who performed and entertained on the Saturday: Susan Rosano, Surcari and Che Cartafalso. These performances were funded by the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism, Madison Foundation and Madison Rotary.
Fair Trade efforts around the world link more than a million small-scale farmers and artisans with access to global markets, thereby empowering them to financially support their families and create thriving local communities. An estimated two-thirds of Fair Trade artisans are women, often the sole wage earners for their families.
Mercy Center was able to send over $50,000 to developing nations. Over the course of three years, over $150,000 has been raised to alleviate poverty - that's alot of meals and clean water! Thank you to everyone to supports our efforts to support artists around the world.
And don't forget you can shop Fair Trade all year round at the Fair Earth Gift Shop at Mercy Center where you will find a wide selection of beautiful Fair Trade merchandise.
