Energy

Energy

  • We recieved an electric retrofit in 2006 for most of our buildings (Main building, Shalom, Seascape, Garage and Greenhouse).
  • We received a loan through Connecticut Light and Power's Lighting Rebate Program. Fluorescent lamps (bulbs) were swapped for all incandescent lamps (bulbs).  Many of these swaps required updating our ballasts too.  The retrofit also upgraded lighting in our exit signs and provided a new more energy efficient fan in our walk-in refrigerator.
  • When we buy new products, we purchase appliances with EnergyStar ratings.
  • When our new Fair Trade Gift Shop was created, the building was properly insulated to conserve heat.
  • We are currently re-examining the successes of the retrofit.
  • We are looking to install motion detector lights in our bathrooms, closets and some of our hallways to turn lights on and off automatically. We hope this will conserve energy when lights are left on unnecessarily.
